Since joining the royal family, Kate Middleton has been the pinnacle of beauty and grace. Not only does she use her influence to help others, but she has also made a huge impact in the world of fashion. With a perfect balance of elegance and modern sophistication, her style is idolized by many.

One of the reasons Kate chooses her specific fashion pieces is to maintain an image that aligns with her role as a member of the royal family. Her clothing choices often reflect respect for tradition and protocol, while also incorporating contemporary trends to keep her look fresh and relatable. During the initial years of her marriage, Kate would often be sighted in tailored dresses reaching the knee or just above. However, in recent times, she seems to prefer more conservative attire, favouring longer midi and maxi-length dresses. Some of her signature looks can even be found in popular retail outlets such as Mango and Zara.

Over time her style has transcended social classes, becoming more accessible to people from all walks of life. This is known as the trickle-down theory. This theory refers to the notion that fashion trends begin in higher social classes, typically among wealthy or influential individuals, and are unaffordable for those of a lower social class. Overtime, styles gradually become more accessible to the general public as they are adopted and replicated by lower-priced retailers and manufacturers. This often takes years and looks that might have been seen on the Princess a while ago will only be entering retail stores now.

Being given the chance to wear similar styles to a royal makes people see Kate as a more relatable role model, one that is not so out of reach. This helps the Princess of Wales to build a closer relationship with the public, despite her high-class lifestyle.
